The good thing and the bad thing about living in the 21st Century is technology!

In Church life it can bring things to life, as we get great sound, visuals and videos. It can also be all-consuming and take a lot of time to get right. That is why every now and again we have a “Back to Basics” service where we cut out as much as we can.

This included… Minimal chair set up- grab one or sit on the floor, no projection (song sheets only), minimal amplification (just one mic to avoid shouting!), no band- just a couple of acoustic guitars, no welcome team- we all muck in and use poly cups (But we couldn’t do with out coffee!); no Sunday Funday- we all church together- but with lots of things for the kids to do, from loom bands to lego; no sermon- rather a testimony, a share about Revive, a share from Matt 11v28 “Come to me all who are weary…” and communion shared with beakers and real bread

All ages enjoying God even on the floor!

The result: Before we knew it people from 1-70 years old had spend over an hour together totally immersed in God.

www: chairs on the outside walls and stage, loom bands, lego away from the front, chalk boards, Susan’s prayer, all age communion with helpful Pastoral leaders

ebi: more mats to sit on, drip feed activities to kids, remove some instruments, buy more chalk boards, flasks for DIY coffee and tea on a seperate table
