Festival Day 1: Foodbank Cafe+

I’m sitting in the middle of a buzzing festi/foodbank cafe and what a morning it’s been! We’ve had an awesome team of helpers and a lot of fun!
We’ve been giving people a place to sit down, charge their phones, have tea, coffee, cake and a big welcome all for free! We’ve been having amazing conversations with people from around the world already. We’ve chatted to security, bar staff, campers and many others, It’s so amazing to see people’s reactions when they find out that everything is genuinely free, no strings attached. One lady said to me “I saw free WiFi and felt a bit suspicious, but the volunteers outside reassured me I wouldn’t be bible bashed, this is great and we’ll definitely be back tomorrow!”
Here are some highlights of conversations tweets and moments of Festi Friday
Cameron tweeted us “who wouldn’t want free tea and coffee and phone charging. Loving festival weekend at the roundabout :-)”
Martin G helped a man get home by printing his ferry tickets for him!
Tony M says “Loving the festi weekend here, have met people from Italy, Brazil, Spain and Germany already”
A girl was phoning someone back home and said “We’re in a church charging our phones and they’re SO lovely”
“Thank you to the most delightful people I have ever met. So kind of you to help everyone. Definitely passing on the message to everyone!” Lauren from Bath
“This building saved me phone’s life #LOL“ Larry from London

“Thank you to CTR for the tea and coffe and clean toilets. We’ll be back!”
