Journeying Together

Known by name

Date:

READ Judges 6, Isaiah 43v1,2

This is a continuation of last week’s message of names above numbers. There are two big points to recognise.

When we gather together it is about recognising God’s presence, the name above all names.
Recognising that God sees the names above the numbers, He doesn’t headcount, he sees you. You are important and he knows you by name.
Jane shared that names are so important to God, and that includes you!

DISCUSSION

  1. The most important thing to recognise when we meet together is God’s presence amongst us. Yet it is so easy to miss. What can you do to help recognise and embrace his presence when we meet?
  2. Do you ever feel insignificant in a church gathering? As if it doesn’t matter whether you’re there or not? It DOES matter to God. How does this week’s message change your thinking?
  3. God called Gideon “Mighty Warrior” (Judges 6v12), he called Peter “Rock” (Matt 16v18), not heir natural names, but how he saw them. Can we encourage each other by sharing what you would call others eg “The one who cares“
