Speaker: Tony Murphy
Tony shared in his sermon how the heart of the church shone through over the Fringe Fest time, more clearly than ever.
A heart of generosity, a heart to reach out, a heart of love, the heart of Jesus.
So many of us were involved in so many ways, every one of them significant, just as Paul talks about in his letter to the Ephesians, “From him the whole body, joined and held together by every supporting ligament, grows and builds itself up in love, as each part does its work” (4v16)
This is the heart that propels us forward, as day by day, week by week we reach out to our communities, our families, and the people who God is calling to himself through appointments he has already made for us (See Eph 2v10). Tony encouraged us to keep going forward in this, because “love never fails” (1 Cor 13v8)
With this in mind, we need to be continually returning to the absolute unconditional love that God has for us. We read that we love, because he first loved us (1 John 4v9-19).
Like a rechargeable battery, we can only give what we have received, which is why daily sitting at the feet of Jesus in prayer is so vital for us.
FOR DISCUSSION
- How were you involved in the Fringe Fest? Encourage each other in the significance of this.
- What experience have you had of “God appointments” to share his love with others?
- Read 1 John 4 v9-19. Look up what “atonement” means in v10? Why is this significant to us?
- Think of 10 items that need to recharge. How do you “recharge as a Christian”? How do you manage to sit at his feet in a busy life?
