March 11th was a very significant day in the recent history of Barton Green, which the church has recently acquired a 25 year lease on. As well as maintaining the green, our vision has gone beyond that to growing edible fruit for the community. To this end, we have joined forces with the newly formed “Coppins Community Food Forest”, who bring a huge level of expertise and enthusiasm.

They arranged for £800 of fruit trees (at £40 per tree) to be donated by local individuals, charities, businesses and five from Barton Primary.

Saturday saw these people invited to the green to take part in a big tree planting event, with nearly 100 in attendance, enjoying tree planting, a BarBQ and cakes.
